Vinesauce: The Questening

Prelude to another interminable project

In my long quest to be true to myself, I’ve come to a realization: some addictions are fated to be woven into the fabric of life. I’m still bust-deep in my love affair with YouTube, and my main squeeze is Vinesauce: The Full Sauce.

Vinny’s videos have become a nightly tradition for my husband and me—even our cat enjoys watching the screen occasionally. Other creators have shuffled in and out, and I’m still subscribed to many I once adored, but Vinny is the one I go to without fail when I need background noise or some actual entertainment.

But unlike the other loves (or likes) of my life, I can’t for the life of me remember the very first Vinesauce video I ever watched. I had to be six to eight (maybe nine?!) years ago, and the sheer number of videos made during all that time has created a labyrinth with virtually no escape. I can’t remember previously watched videos unless they’ve found a spot in a favorites playlist.

But how much vintage Vinny Vinesauce have I really watched? Can I rediscover that very first shroom-infused video that cast its hallucinogenic spell on me? Can I resist crafting more poorly conceived mushroom puns, at least for the rest of this post?

Instead of doing all this questioning, why not do some questening… sorry, mistyped that. Why not do some questing?… Nah, I like questening better. It combines questioning and questing in one nice, weird word.

And rewatching old Vinny videos in an attempt to jog my memory about that special first one is nothing but weird. Maybe along the way, I can rekindle the joy of initial discover and the thrilling compulsion to click the subscribe button. Or lose my mind.

Either way, it should be fun. So let the questening begin.
